AI+ has entered the affordable foldable segment in India with the launch of the AI+ Nova Flip 5G, a new clamshell-style smartphone priced at Rs 29,999. The new handset arrives as part of the brand’s wider Nova 2 series rollout and stands out for bringing the flip-phone form factor to a much lower price bracket than what Indian buyers usually associate with foldables.

The biggest talking point here is simple: the AI+ Nova Flip 5G is trying to make the flip phone category feel more accessible in India. While premium foldables from Samsung, Motorola, and Tecno have already tested consumer interest in this segment, AI+ is clearly aiming at buyers who want the style and flexibility of a foldable phone without crossing flagship-level pricing.

AI+ Nova Flip 5G Price and Availability

The AI+ Nova Flip 5G price in India is set at Rs 29,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. The phone will be sold via Flipkart and comes in a Glacier White color option. AI+ has confirmed that sales will begin in May, although the brand has not yet announced the exact sale date.

AI+ Nova Flip 5G Specifications

The AI+ Nova Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch AMOLED inner display with 2790 x 1188 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and support for up to 1200 nits high brightness mode. On the outside, the phone gets a 3.1-inch AMOLED cover display, which should be useful for checking notifications, viewing alerts, and handling quick interactions without unfolding the device every time.

Under the hood, the foldable is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-series chipset, paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB storage. It runs on Android 15-based NxtQ OS, giving it a relatively current software base out of the box. For optics, the AI+ Nova Flip 5G packs a 50-megapixel main rear camera alongside a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera for photos and video calls.

AI+ is also highlighting the phone’s ability to capture photos in partially folded or hover-style positions, which is one of the practical advantages of the clamshell foldable form factor. The phone is backed by a 4,325mAh battery with 33W wired charging support. It also supports PD 3.0 and PPS charging standards. Connectivity options include dual 5G SIM support, NFC, Bluetooth, OTG, GPS with L1 and L5 bands, and a USB Type-C port. For security, the device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of build, AI+ says the phone measures 7.2mm in thickness when folded and weighs 193g.

Why This Launch Matters

With the Nova Flip 5G, AI+ is not just launching another mid-range smartphone. The brand is trying to carve out space for an affordable AI flip phone in India, which is still a relatively underexplored category. Whether this strategy clicks with buyers will depend on how much value consumers place on the foldable experience at this price. But on paper, the AI+ Nova Flip 5G is easily one of the more interesting launches in the affordable smartphone segment right now.
